About Me

My name is Melanie. I grew up in small towns in Nevada, USA. I met my husband Brian in high school and we got married in 2003, barely a month after I graduated.

July 12th, 2003

We have had and continue to have many adventures together and our relationship is thankfully better than ever. I think it's because we take everything very seriously...

Feb. 2016...oh yeah baby, we look good

I attended UNR and graduated in 2006 at the top of my class for the college of business with a bachelors degree in Information Systems. I have worked as a Web Developer ever since. I enjoy being a nerd and having an intellectually stimulating job.

In 2009 we had our first child, Sebastian Oliver. He is an amazingly social, happy, intelligent, and talkative boy. When he was 3, he was diagnosed with NF1, from his many cafe au lait spots and freckling in his arm pits and groin, and later confirmed with a DNA test. Despite this diagnosis, he is doing awesome in school and life. Aside from a little occupational therapy to help him learn to write when he was in preschool, and now some physical therapy to help him gain strength, he has had no other issues from this. In 2013, he became a proud big brother when we had our second son, Oscar Leo. This boy is very athletic, strong-willed, hyper, and crazy, but also very happy, social, and smart like his brother. Both boys are adorable and sweet and I couldn't have asked for better children.

In March of 2011, we were both ready for a change, so we moved to Beaverton, OR. We absolutely love it here. Everything about it; the rain, trees, green growing life everywhere, friendly people, legal marijuana (those 2 might relate!), ocean nearby, mountains nearby, endless hiking, camping, and outdoor exploring.

My passions include these crazy boys I live with, writing, and trying to be as healthy as I can. Figuring out what's healthy for me has turned into quite a journey. Right now this includes following a rather strict elimination diet to figure out any food intolerances, doing yoga and physical therapy for my chronically injured knee and scoliosis, and walking our sweet dog Ginger. When I'm at full health I'm usually running and cycling, which I miss more than I could possibly describe. I hope you stick around and read more of my now, not-empty journal.
